oils or acrylics

I keep going back & forth, oils, acrylics. I have been painting with oils since I was  a kid & exclusively until several years ago when I started painting in my home. I love acrylics because they are fast, non toxic, they cost less, clean up with soap & water, you can totally finish a painting in one sitting, they're great. The oils are what I know, they're like a part of me and when I work in acrylics I start missing the oils. They have a luminosity that acrylics don't, they have a buttery texture that just doesn't translate through acrylics.  These 2 6x6 paintings are from the same photo of Exumas. I changed the people a little, but it's the same picture. The top one is acrylic, the bottom is oil.

Abacos

The lighthouse in Hopetown, Abacos. I spent a lot of time there with my then boyfriend on his sailboat. We anchored out in front of this beautiful scene many times.

a scene from one of our many explorations of these beautiful islands

Latest small paintings

these are the latest small paintings of larger ones that I have painted and most of them have sold so I do like revisiting them. They are 6x6 on canvas board

latest small paintings

these are based on a couple of large paintings I did. I've always painted large canvases, but started painting small for DPW for the auction. I'm really getting addicted to this, they look so good when they're done and varnished, they look good enough to eat.

South Beach

This is a little 10x8 painting I did of Lincoln Road, South Beach. I was there visiting an old friend, we had lunch at Monty's then walked around Lincoln Road. It was a beautiful, sunny S. Florida day.
I took some photo's with my iphone, then I paint from the photo's, I used a couple of photo's but this was the main one.
